I started coaching martial arts students in 1996 as a blackbelt the Chinese Martial Arts Institute in Fairfax, Virginia.

In 1999 I traveled to Beijing, China where I trained with the world renowned Beijing Wushu Team.

Between 2002 and 2015, I was the Strength & Conditioning and Sanshou Fight Team Head Coach at the Chinese Martial Arts Institute in Merrifield, VA.

In 2007, I won the silver medal for the 175lb weight class in the World Kickboxing Association's National Amateur Tournament. This is what stoked my fire for strength and conditioning.

I am continually studying martial arts ranging from traditional Tien Shan P'ai Kung Fu, Aikido, Kickboxing, and Filipino Martial Arts.
I have combined this experience with scientifically proven exercise techniques and ongoing experience with some amazing clients to create Ronin Monster Factory’s (RMF) unique training style.

In 2017, with over 20 years training experience, I earned my personal trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT).

Later on in early 2018, I also received my specialization in corrective exercise.

In 2019, I earned the Level 1 Nutrition Coach Certification from Precision Nutrition.

My Training Philosophy
As a coach, I emphasize the importance of setting clearly defined goals for my clients that are both realistic and challenging.

Starting with a strong foundation of General Physical Preparedness is essential for any fitness journey.

My goal is to train each client to reach a higher level of fitness, tailored to their unique strengths and abilities, while ensuring that they maintain a balanced approach to their training.

I use a combination of strength, endurance, skill, and basic skill training in order to promote longevity and healthy living through exercise and healthy habits. What you do in the 23 hours outside the gym is more important than the time you spend working out.

My training philosophy is centered on helping my clients develop a fit lifestyle that benefits their overall well-being.
